A rarely seen mammal, the Ring-tailed Cat, was brought to the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network on April 14th. The animal was caught in a trap set in an attic of  a home off of San Marcos Pass. The Ring-tailed Cat  is nocturnal, ranging from California to Mexico and Texas.  Their closest relative is the raccoon. They feed on insects, birds, fruit and small rodents. The animal was released back into its habitat on the night of April 15th.

The Ring-tailed Cat received minor injuries while trying to escape the trap.
